General Surgery Procedures

What Do We Offer?

Patients around the region know to trust us with their surgical procedures.

Colorectal Surgery

Colorectal conditions are diseases or problems that affect your colon and rectum. Common conditions that fall into this category at our Layton facility include:

  • colon cancer (corrected with a colectomy)
  • rectal cancer (corrected with a low anterior resection)
  • diverticulitis (inflammation of the pouches in the lining of the large intestine)
  • inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease)

Gall Bladder and GI Tract

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract includes all of the organs used in the digestive process. Your gall bladder is related to the GI tract. When the gall bladder or GI tract malfunction, they can lead to:

  • gallstones
  • cholecystis
  • chronic acaalculous
  • gangrene
  • polyps
  • sclerosing
  • tumors
  • obesity

Hernia Surgery

A hernia is a weakness or break in the abdominal wall that lets the contents of the abdomen push forward. When this happens, surgery is needed to repair it. There are multiple kinds of hernias, including:

  • epigastric hernias
  • incisional hernias
  • umbilical hernias
  • direct inguinal hernias
  • indirect inguinal hernias
  • femoral hernias

Robotic Surgery

Our practice includes the sophisticated da Vinci Surgical System, a robotic platform designed to expand the surgeon’s capabilities and offer a state-of-the-art minimally invasive option for major surgery. The system combines the best features of open surgery with the best features of minimally invasive surgery. The precision, dexterity and control a surgeon has during surgeries with large incisions are maintained, while incisions only one or two centimeters long are required. While the system is described as “robotic,” it does not move on its own and only works when the surgeon is controlling it.
